01When should we come?
There is no bad month — only months that suit different people.
Find your month on the strip. The colour is the season it falls in; the notes under it are the things worth knowing before you book that week.

The arrival almost everyone uses. Land in daylight if your flights allow — the ghat road is much better seen than driven in the dark.

Munnar has no railway of its own. Aluva is the nearest useful station, with taxis and buses onward; Ernakulam works too and is barely further.

Waterfalls, tea slopes and a dozen reasons to pull over. Whatever a map says the drive takes, add an hour for the stopping you will want to do.
03How high will we be?
Sea level to sixteen hundred metres in half a day.
It is the altitude, not the latitude, that decides what you pack. Munnar town is barely half way up what is around it.

04What should we bring?
Pack for the altitude, not for Kerala.

05What else should we know?
- 012026 is a kurinji yearNeelakurinji flowers once in twelve years. Full bloom is expected September–October on Chokramudi, Sevenmala and the upper Meesapulimala slopes.
- 02Some ground needs permissionEstate and forest areas are not all open access. We arrange it where it is needed, and say so when it cannot be had.
- 03Wildlife is never a promiseWe time visits for when sightings are most common and keep a respectful distance. Anyone guaranteeing elephants is guessing.

What is the best month to visit Munnar?
December to February for the clearest views and the coldest nights; September to November for washed-clean air and mist. There is no month we would tell you to avoid.
How cold does it actually get?
Town sits around 1,600 m, so nights are cool all year and genuinely cold in December and January. Days are mild. Pack layers whatever the month.
How long is the drive from Kochi airport?
Roughly 130 km and four to four and a half hours, depending on weather and how often you stop. We plan to the real time, not the optimistic one.
Is 2026 really a Neelakurinji year?
Yes — the Mattupetty–Kannimala cycle flowers on a twelve-year rhythm and 2026 is the year, with full bloom expected September into October. Eravikulam runs on its own cycle.
