Walk a working estate
A guide who knows the pluckers by name leads you through living tea country — the withering lofts, the sorting sheds, the photo points crowds never reach.
No. 06 · Tea & Local
From a half-day tasting walk to a full valley circuit — tea the way the people who make it know it, with factory floors, tastings and the classic Munnar day.
The idea
Every visitor photographs the tea.
Almost nobody gets to touch it.
Munnar exists because of a plant. Walking the working rows, smelling the withering loft and tasting the same leaf three ways is the shortest route to understanding the town you are standing in — and it happens at estate pace, not tour pace.
The collection
In the rows
A guide who knows the pluckers by name leads you through living tea country — the withering lofts, the sorting sheds, the photo points crowds never reach.
At the table
Visual, smell, taste, touch — the four steps real tasters use. Press a fresh leaf and it springs back; that is the first thing they teach you.
On the floor
Some of South India’s finest orthodox tea, getting ready for market. Machinery, noise, and the smell of the day’s leaf turning into something you recognise.
The full circuit
Add Eravikulam, Mattupetty Dam and a factory lunch and the morning becomes the valley’s classic day — one easy loop, all of it arranged.

The honest part
Access depends on the working day, the weather and the season — which is why we arrange it in advance rather than turning up hopefully. If an estate cannot host on your date, we say so and offer the next best thing.
Every rate is confirmed in writing before you pay anything.

Comfortable shoes, a light warm layer and something for drizzle. Mornings are the prettiest and the coolest.
A day or two ahead is ideal so we can arrange estate access. Message us anyway — we’ll tell you honestly what’s possible.
